Can ya’ll believe Spring has finally graced us with it’s presence? Yesss curls, I’m so ready for warmer weather, fun outfits, and new hairstyles!
So today’s post is about this cute little shampoo massager that was gifted to me in January. I chose not to use it for shampooing, but rather as a scalp massager instead, and curlfriends, I am loving it!
Ok, so January 1st I decided to switch up my hair care routine. I felt the need to add something new. What I started doing was using the electric shampoo massager on my scalp every night before bed, then I’d follow up with my kangen beauty water and then seal the ends of my hair with my hair and body balm.
This process seems to have had a great affect on my hair, as I’ve noticed some pretty good length retention and I plan to continue this method for the remainder of the year. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve always done scalp massages using my fingers, but just wanted to try a different approach and give my fingers a break. So be sure to check back for updates.
My overall impression, this lovely little number is quite effective in promoting healthy hair growth, it stimulates the the hair follicles and increases blood flow, now what curly girl doesn’t want that?

Now I know I said that in 2019 I would not be stressing over my hair and I’m not, but what I need you to understand is that I will continue to be diligent in caring for it. 🙂
Ok, so for me it all boils down to natural hair problem solving. How many of you really take the time to get to the root of your natural hair challenges? I promise you it would reduce a lot of your problems.
The problem I was experiencing was a quick and easy fix, and it only took a few days to see the benefits. Now I’ll take that W on any given Sunday.
So here’s how I resolved my natural hair issues with single strand knots that were forming about an inch up my hair shaft.
First let me share how I moisturize my hair on a daily basis using my two staple products, Kangen beauty water and my hair and body balm to keep my hair from matting in my twists. The process before I modified it looked like this. I applied the kangen water to my scalp and ends of my hair and sealed with my hair and body balm every night before bed and would cover my hair with a satin bonnet. I had been using this method for several weeks with no concerns. However, it was around the last quarter of 2018 that my curls began acting knotty.
Once I identified the problem, the solution was pretty simple. I determined that I needed to apply the kangen beauty water further up the hair strand and seal with my hair and body balm. It immediately resolved this issue within a few days. Problem solved. Now be honest, how many of you would have just reached for your scissors and cut those knots off?
For those of you that said yes, put the scissors down and don’t reach for them again until it’s time to trim! LOL, now remember the goal here is to preserve as much hair as we possibly can, so by cutting the knots you are really short changing yourself, and there’s no need to do that. I’ll be doing a youtube video in the near future on the method I use to undo single strand knots.

It’s that time of year when you get to hit the reset button on new goals. So are you ready for a fresh new start and new adventures?
I don’t about you, but I know I am, but first, let me recap the goals I set for myself in 2018 and whether or not I accomplished them.
Goal 1: To grow my hair to waist length
Goal 2: Launch a youtube channel
Goal 3: Be more consistent with my plant based meals
Goal 4: Purchase a Kangen water machine
And the results are that 3 out of the 4 goals were accomplished. Which goals were they you ask? Goals 2 through 4. Yep, goal 1 was not achieved (I’m really close though). And the funny thing is I don’t even care, which is the reason for today’s post.
Now I realize that I’ve rebranded myself as a natural hair blogger, and that’s cool but what I’ve also come to realize is that my blogging doesn’t just have to center primarily around my hair. Cause quite frankly, I’m kinda over this desire to obtain waist length hair, don’t get me wrong, once it happens I’ll be tickled pink, but at this phase of my life it just doesn’t require that kind of energy anymore. And to be even more honest, the pressure I was feeling (that I put on myself) to have waist length hair had my head in a funky place. I felt as though my followers were looking for me to reach my goal, and when it didn’t happen I felt like a let down, or that my method was flawed. All of this because my hair was not waist length. I was having all these crazy thoughts about what people were going to think and how I’m failing…Then I took a step back and had to check myself, yesss curl, I was straight tripping.
Yep, some how self doubt had found its way in and took up residency and lingered a little longer than it should have. I’m so grateful I recognized it early and removed it by surrounding myself with people with great energy.
So this year, I’m officially removing the pressure of obsessing over waist length hair, and showing my followers that you get the real me from now on. The good, the bad, and the ugly, lol. Now my true 2019 celebration can begin.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I can direct my energy to what my new year mindset is all about, helping others like you overcome those basic natural hair challenges that may be keeping you from reaching your #hairgoals, while enjoying other aspects of my life.
I don’t want to live in the kind of world where we don’t look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can’t change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.
